Her parents, both professional musicians, modeled sustainable and fulfilling lives enriched by music, and they remain fixtures of the broader old time, classical, Irish, contra dance, and folk communities.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eSophie's current work explores the relationship between rhythm, harmony, and melody as they appear across various instruments. This is often a literal conversation: playing old time fiddle while flatfooting, flat picking guitar in a style that borrows fiddle bowing rhythms and tunings, and flat picking guitar while flatfooting are a few examples. Sophie's eclectic musical and gestural background allows her to cultivate freedom within structure, amplifying the heartbeat of old time music.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\n\u003cspan\u003eThis past July of 2026, Sophie released \u003c\/span\u003e\u003ci\u003eHer Bright Smile Haunts Me Still, \u003c\/i\u003e\u003cspan\u003eher second album and first release on Adhyâropa Records. This project includes\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e harmonized traditional ballads, cherished songs, old time, Irish, and Scottish fiddle tunes arranged for melodic guitar, and a handful of accompanying percussive dance sketches. The album was recorded, mixed, and produced by Grammy Award winning artist Cathy Fink, and it is performed completely solo and recorded live.
